Bed dyes come in four main varieties: shaving cream beds, glue beds, lotion beds, and floetrol beds. In each case, you use a medium (shaving cream, for example) as the base for dye, and set the disc in the bed for an extended period of time.

Each different bed type creates a radically different looking saturation and pattern on the disc. Obviously, you can use stencils in conjunction with bed dyes. Currently, I’m just working with shaving cream beds (see below). But I plan to expand into glue and lotion soon, so stay tuned.
